Acrylic Paintings on Canvas

Acrylic paint on canvas is now finding its way into collections of art appreciators all across the world.  Many famed collections of assembled works of various artists now contain more than 50% of works painted using acrylic.  As more artists move from the days of oil and watercolors to the future of acrylic, more collections will contain a higher concentration of these works.

Artists that have been trained in the classical techniques are now applying their studies to the canvas with acrylics.  As the new medium of choice for the avant garde painters of today, acrylic paints are quickly taking the lead as the predominant choice for painting on canvas, paper, or any of the several materials that can hold the acrylic.

These works can now be painted faster than ever because of how fast they dry. High quality acrylic on canvas is the choice for the masters of modern painting. The true excellence of this paint is its ability to mesh well with any other type of material.  Artists are able to mix it with anything from sawdust to metals to make new hues and incredible new textures.

Many other famous painters of our day are creating modern masterpieces. One such artist in Boston, Massachusetts, Veny is making quite a name for herself in the art world. Her mixture of styles based on her years of classical study of the masters along with her days spent in France and Italy, have given her the ability to create anything that she sees in high quality acrylic paintings.

The master works that are being created by Veny are being sought after by many collectors across the globe.  Every brushstroke is an intense feeling of emotion and beauty.  Veny, having dedicated her life to the fine arts, shows her success in the pursuit of excellence in artistry in every painting that she creates.

Adding acrylic art to a collection of fine artworks combines the old and the new masters in a comprehensive and attractive way.  As expert artists such as Veny appear on the art scene, they will continue to bring art to life with acrylic painting.  The value of these works is ever increasing and many artists are having their entire collections purchased by shrewd art investors.  This monopoly of talent makes finding works by Veny a real opportunity for those that wish to create a legacy of art appreciation with true value for their family.

There are new collections being made everyday and new collectors from all walks of life.  Those that may have originally just purchased a painting to decorate their home now want to add more of these works to their collections.  Acrylic paint on canvas is becoming the next wave of fine arts to appear in homes and offices across the world.  As more of this work is made available to the world, the closer the people of the world will be able to get.  Art has a way of knocking down barriers of difference and bringing peace and understanding to so many people.

About the Author

Every picture is worth a thousand words, because each painting not only tells the story of its creation; the story of the subject, but also the story of the artist that created it. Blended in the fine acrylic paints of Veny's canvases are her lifetime of experiences including her early beginnings in Eastern Europe. Veny was born in Bulgaria in 1970. Growing up in the beautiful city of Sofia, Veny was no stranger to the arts and creativity, as her immediate family was comprised of a professional photographer, a building engineer and her grandfather George, a self tough oil painter, who worked as a humor and satire writer.

Can I spraypaint a canvas and then paint acrylic paint over it?

I need a black background on a big canvas I have and I'm almost out of black paint and don't feel like going to the store to buy more paint. I do, however, have black spraypaint and was wondering if I could just spray paint the canvas black and then paint on it with acrylic paint. Would this work? Will the paint stick?

Depends.
Oil, no.
Acrylic, yes.
Water, yes.

Oil will make other layers peel off and grow bubbles.

Paintings For Your Home

You might want to buy few nice paintings for your home or office but aren’t able to figure out what exactly to opt for. Purchasing tasteful paintings is a costly affair and hence needs adequate preparation. Before making a purchase, one should be aware of the various genres of painting.

Landscape painting is exactly what it sounds like- depiction of landscapes. These paintings are known for their striking landscapes with animals or people in the background or nothing at all. Another subgenre by the name of waterscape painting has also become popular.

Portraits are relatively close-range renditions of people. These portraits chiefly concentrate on realistic details of face, body, clothing and background. Its subgenre, animal portraiture, depicts animals especially pets in realistic details.

Still Life oil paintings focus on depicting objects from close range in realistic terms. Flowers, fruits, glass wares, or other decorative objects on a table or a flat surface usually form the subject of these paintings. These paintings focus on depiction of objects in realistic terms rather than using impressionistic techniques.

Abstract art paintings focus on line, shape, color instead of realistic forms. An abstract painter tries to project a certain mood or create a visual effect.     Since abstract painting has multiple styles, choose only those that match the color scheme of your home interiors.

It is not much a matter of concern whether the paintings are original or reproductions of any famous art work. Choose painting styles that best match your home interiors. Landscape paintings in a big living room look majestic. On the other hand, abstract paintings look better in rooms with warm colors. So do your best to choose the painting type that best matches your home interior and enhances its overall look and feel.

How to keep sky clean when painting plein aire oil landscapes?

I paint trees and sky next to each other - but end up getting bits and smears of green mixed into the blue sky b/c i'm trying to cover up the canvas. how do i avoid this? wipe the brush off between dabs of paint? any suggestions?

I think you should consider painting a different way...forget about the edges of tree and sky... work the detail levels simultaneously all over the canvas, not bringing one part (trees/sky edges) to finish before the rest. In other words, develop all parts of the painting simultaneously. If that degree of realism is needed, then make sure all parts of the painting are finished to that level. Mistakes can be wonderful so don't be too quick to re-work a green sky smear. It could look like blowing leaves.

The room is one of the interiors in the house that gives comfort and fulfillment.Whenever you want to havearestful sleep, it is normal that you want to stay in a place where youcan enjoy and leave the other people's business behind. It was also said that a bed room is a den not only for comfort but is also a place where you can express yourself.By that saying, if you are an adventurous person who loves the wild then, consider zebra stripes to be the design of your room. Color Wall

The color of your wall is important because it can either enhance or destruct your bedroom designs.Since, you want to have zebra stripes to design your bed room; it does not mean that you havetostrike some stripes on your wall.Although, no one can dictate you if that's what you want. I am going to paint zebra stripes on my dresser drawers. How do I do this?

I want to use tape because I don't think i would be very good at drawing the stripes. How do I tear the tape so it will look right? I don't want the stripes to look to thin. Also how do I know where to place each piece of tape?

Zebra stripes aren't straight up and down, and I really think you'd get much better results free-styling them. What you'll need to paint the stripes is a couple of cheap water color brushes ~ one that's about 1" wide and one that's 1/8" inch wide.
First, paint the draws white. Let dry.
Next, find a picture of zebra stripes to use as a reference. Lightly sketch the stripe pattern with pencil on the white paint.
Use the paint brushes to paint your stripes, taking care to cover the pencil marks with the black paint.
that's it :)

It's been my experience that taping just doesn't work well,...because not only can it take off the base paint, the black paint tends to wick beneath the tape edge leaving weird little blobs.

Painting Dark Walls

The Dark Room Solution

Light! More light! Usually, people who want to paint their rooms get the advice to paint them in a light, neutral color. This can work if you like neutral colors, but if your passion is for saturated dark color, you can do a lot with it on the walls of your home.

Black is the ultimate neutral. Surprisingly enough, black walls can be a great alternative to the usual whites or beiges that most people think of when they ponder a neutral wall scheme. With the right lighting and furniture accents, black walls can be dramatic and sophisticated. Care must be taken, however, to brighten the room with light furniture and decorations. Consider pairing black walls with colorful accents like red, teal, purple as well as lighter shades such as pink, baby blue and lilac for interest.

Brown is an underrated color that can bring saturated warmth into a room and serve as a backdrop to just about any color accent. A chocolate brown wall is great for showing off brighter colors while lending some color to the room scheme itself. Chocolate brown and blue combinations have recently been popular, but chocolate brown goes great with reds, yellows and greens.

Red is a color that has long been used sparingly in the wall palette, except for red brick fireplace areas.. However, a rich, dark red can lend a room sophistication and elegance that's hard to beat. Burgundy is a great color to put on walls and goes well with many colors and textures. A good dark red is matched well with black (but not too much!), white, antique browns and accents of the cooler colors.

Blues have long been a part of the wall palette in their lighter shades. However, a deep royal blue can make a wonderful wall color when paired with white, yellow and other light accents, furniture and decorations. Blue panels can also lend a significant amount of color without being garish or blinding.

Greens also are a common wall color in their brighter varieties. A forest green, though, can be understated and soothing to the eye. Paired with browns, yellows and creams, the darker greens can provide an elegant solution to your walls.

Purple is somewhat hard to use for a room, as the color walks the line between warm and cool. Some of the darker purples, such as aubergine (eggplant), can work well with a variety of colors. The richer purples, such as royal, can pose more of a challenge to match so that the purple doesn't overwhelm the room. Light greens, creams, rich red browns and yellows can provide great contrast to a purple room.

The ceiling and the floors can offer some contrast, especially if you're worried about your dark room being too dark. Light colored ceilings and floors can give the illusion of height that dark walls accentuate. Another method of contrasting is painting the walls different colors. One wall can be used as an accent wall and painted a dark/light color, depending on how dark/light you want the room to be. Two-tone walls also provide a way to use dark colors without darkening a room too much.

Don't shy away from dark colors! They may require some more thought as to accents and dark/light combinations than your average light wall color, but they can make a room striking and unusual. Coming to the dark side, in this instance, isn't all bad!

Painting the dark walls?

I have very dark brown walls, the colour of bitter sweet chocolate. I will be painting them a light cream colour. I have done 2 coats of a top quality primer, however, the dark is still bleeding thru a bit. My question is this: do the walls have to be completely white with primer with no bleeding, or can I paint now? I have a top quality paint and plan to do 2 coats. Thanks

Paint is going to cover better than any primer. No it does not have to be completely white. What you've done should be completely fine to paint over. I have painted dark paneling which is pretty much the same scenario. No problem!

What have Mercedes Vitos got to do with Mountain Biking?

There are a lot of clever people in advertising.  Ask me what to do to help to sell a load of vans and I would never think of getting ‘down with the kids' involved with a load of mountain bike racers.  Selling a new type of sweet, sickly drink yes, Mercedes Vito vans, no.

The ad people aren't daft, but maybe you could accuse them of putting their own self-interest first by inventing these wacky campaigns, in so doing lining the pockets of their own Oswald Boateng suits.  But the people who run Mercedes Benz van division are no fools in emperor's clothes (at least I hope they're not).  They have to justify what they spend on marketing and they have to sell vans at a profit.  I assume therefore that they ‘get it'.

I assume it is an ‘aspirational approach' we all want to be like the trendy mountain bikers. If I am an 18 stone builder and need a van for work, why not buy a Mercedes Vito that makes me feel like a lithe mountain biker touring Europe with a group of foxy roadies.

Time will tell of the approach has worked, at the moment, Mercedes Benz is underperforming compared to their own historical standards, their registrations are 9% down on last year in a market that is currently 26% up on last year.

Will the sponsorship of the Mountain bikers and the production of a mountain bike game App for the iPhone turn this situation around?  I hope so; otherwise the Oswald Boateng suit will be needed to hide the Emperor's shame.

The Mercedes Vito van is a great van that can suit for any use, whether it is for transporting goods by a logistics company or for a paint and decorator to hold all there paint and brushes while on the job. If you go out on the streets and look for handy men, builders, plumbers, electricians and ask them what there favourite van is, the majority of them would say the Vito, that is if they have drove this van before. You can quite easily find cheap Mercedes Vito vans for sale online, just simply go to Google and search for vans for sale, you will then find plenty of websites offering used vans or brand new vans, but seen as the van will most probably get damaged by tools within the van you might as well purchase a used van, as there a lot cheap than new vans..

help, i was painting the trunk of my car and the mist flew on to the rest of the car? safe ways to remove it?

well i was painting the trunk of my 87' mercedes because it was scratched up. as i started painting it the mist flew all over the place and landed all over the car and dried up. now it looks like dried up skin cells on top of the original charcoal paint. i am totally sad and bumed out that i screwed it up. whats the safe'est way of removing this dried up stuff without scratching the original paint? its stuck on pretty good. (really really fine sand paper?, some type of cream?)

No biggie -

Get yourself some rubbing compound, that will take the top layer of clear coat off the car
Then use a polish to bring back the factory shine.

A high speed buffer is fastest, and easiest.

Next time use a drop cloth like a .50 mil plastic! !

Hair Color and Hair Highlights

Regularly the culprits of dry coloring and dreary hair are all the styling products that we frequently use. They establish to build up and dull the shine and tone of our hair. Get rid of the build up by mixing 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with one gallon of condensed water. This can be stored in a cupboard or the refrigerator and employed every couple of weeks to keep hair high-pitched rinse. To utilize it, damp hair with lukewarm water, or shampoo and wash as usual. Then pour 2 cups over the scalp and let mixture saturate the hair. Finish up with a cold-water rinse. If your hair didn't turned out just right. Find out if it's fixable. Semipermanent color takes 48 hours to set so you have a window of time to get to it. First, shampoo a couple times with a clarifying or dandruff shampoo. These are known to shred hair of color (which is why you're always told not to utilize these on colored hair). If you missed your 48 hour window of time, don't concern, semipermanent color rinses out in 6-8 washes.

For a milder, in general lightening, employ chamomile tea (brewed in boiling water and cooled) and/or lemon juice, and clean your freshly shampooed and conditioned hair with it, then go out into the sun and let dehydrated. There are essentially four types of highlights: basic foil highlights, bialiage or 'hair painting', massing or 'piecing' & lowlighting.

Home-color kits have come a extensive means in the past few years & are ideal for busy people & those who desire cut the charge of professional colorings. (We know of a couple top fashion editors who color their hair themselves!). A few home hair coloring tips: massage Vaseline around your hairline as a shielding measure before applying color. To get rid of after coloring, massage a little amount of cream cleanser & wipe off with cotton balls.

Refresh your dye by utilized a color-improving shampoo & conditioner once a week. These products leave miniscule amounts of color into hair. You can suppose your color to last about 6 to 8 weeks before your roots show. If you're hair is colored, you'll want to get your roots touched up or do them yourself with a equipment you can buy at the store. Be swayed & test the color former before applying. If you have highlights or lowlights, you can shun having your entire head colored by asking your stylist to do your hairline, crown & ingredient. A word of caution: Foil highlights need precise application & fixing dark roots is nearly not viable. Ask about easier to keep highlighting ways.

All about Oil Paintings on Canvas

Oil paintings on canvas are one of the best ways to decorate your home interiors with exquisite art. These paintings are created by adding a pigment to oil followed by applying it to a canvas sheet, which has been stretched taut. The most commonly used pigment for oil painting on canvas has been linseed oil but safflower, walnut, and poppy seed oil have also been used. Different types of oil need different length of drying time; each oil provides varying amount of yellowing, which occurs when the painting dries.

There are various advantages of using oil-based paints. The first and foremost is the ability to apply paint to a canvas without the problem of paints running into one another. This is a huge benefit because when paints run into one another, they tend to alter the desired colour and can make the final painting look far different than the original idea planned for it. In addition, the drying time of oil paints is longer than water-based paints, which makes mixing colours directly on a canvas a possibility. It is because of all these reasons that oil paintings on canvas have gained immense popularity with people worldwide.

The artistes all across the globe prefer to make an oil painting on canvas because the oil allows mixing possible for a longer period of time whereas most water-based paints dry almost instantly. For instance, if more white needs to be added to lighten a colour that has already been applied, it would definitely mix much better with the paint. On the other hand, water-based paints in most cases completely cover the current colour it is being added to. So if an artiste opts for oil paintings canvas, it doesn't come as a surprise!

Since the very beginning, oil paintings on canvas are sketched out onto the canvas first and then colour is added to them. Charcoal has been the most commonly used medium used for sketching the subject of the painting. If you wish to shorten or lengthen the drying time of oil paints, you could try adding turpentine or mineral spirits to the paints. It is essential to keep in mind that when multiple layers of paint are added to the canvas, each layer should always contain more oil than the last layer. This addition of oil is very essential because it reduces the risk of cracking and peeling that often occurs.

So, what are you waiting for? Go for oil paintings on canvas right away! There are various types of oil paintings on canvas to choose from, such as landscape oil paintings and more. What is the best acrylic paint to use when painting on canvas?

I would like to start painting and I noticed that people were using acrylic paint on canvas in the art work that I liked. Is that all there is to it? Are there any brands or types that are better than others?

In the United States at least, the very best and highest rated by artists is Golden. M.Graham is a close second. But unless you're not worried about your budget both of these brands cost 25% to 30% more than Liquitex Pro and twice the price as the lower end brands like Winsor & Newton's Galeria. Neither Golden nor M.Graham sell a lower priced 'student' version of their paint.

If you're just starting out I would suggest you start with something like Liquitex 'Basics' or W&N's 'Galeria' or Dick Blick's Acrylics. Wait until you're creating work your really proud of before moving up to the top of the line quality paints.

Ideas for Using Acrylic Paint on Your Scrapbooking Projects

There are such a variety of accents that can be used in any type of scrapbooking project. One of my favourite accents is acrylic paint. Acrylic paint is wonderful, because it is acid-free, dries very quickly, it's water-based, and when used undiluted, has a great opacity so you don't need much to cover things up with (even mistakes). You really can use most water-based brands, but I love the kind that Making Memories offers. The colors are just wonderful! This type of paint can be used with dry brushes, foam stamps or foam brushes and sponges, and as a base or for decoration. There are so many possibilities and here I will describe a few for you:

• Don't know just how to accent your photo in a subtle manner? Frame it with acrylic paint in the color of your choice. Adhere the photo on the layout where it's going to remain (so make sure that is where you want it), then take a medium sized dry brush (approx. 2 cm in width), dab a little paint onto the tip of the brush and paint along the edges of the photo (yes, on the photo) and onto the cardstock itself with just one or two strokes along each side to give it a vintage or rummage look. It makes a very special and romantic type of frame with pastels and very pop art using bright colors.

• Instead of using ink for stamping, take a foam brush, dab into your favourite color of paint and brush a thin layer onto the stamp you want to use, press onto your layout lightly. If you press too hard it might smudge. You have to figure out how to use just the right amount of pressure. Practice on a scrap sheet a few times, before you go for the real thing.

• You don't like the color of your brads, tags or buttons? Paint them over with acrylic paint and then cover with gloss. You've just created your very own special embellishment! How cool is that?!

• Do you have any cardstock you never use, because you don't like the color or you can't find anything to match it with? What you can do is paint a base coat of white gesso for priming. That will neutralize the original color of the cardstock, so you can just paint over it for a new color of cardstock. You can also use the acrylic paint with a sponge or a stamp to make patterned cardstock from plain cardstock.

• Acrylic paint also works well on transparencies and has a great 3-D effect, especially if you're using a stamp with the paint. You first can stamp the paint directly onto the layout and when it's dried adhere a piece of transparency on top of the first stamped image and stamp a new coat of paint slightly off to one side of the original stamp to give it a popping out effect. It looks fabulous!

• To create special titles for your layout, you can use paint with stencils, but make sure you temporarily adhere the stencil to the page before you start to prevent it from moving around.

• If you're using a scrapbooking frame for your layout, paint or stamp it to match the layout. You would be surprised what a difference it makes!

So, you can see how many ways there are to use acrylic paint for scrapbooking projects, although these are only a few techniques. There are so many more. Be creative, be daring and don't be afraid to "dabble" here or "dabble" there. A little word play... Go for it! You will love it, I promise!

Will household emulsion paint on canvas look as good as acrylic paints?

I want to use emulsion paint on canvas and varnish over with gloss acrylic varnish. Would such a painting last as long as one painted with archival quality acrylic paints? Would the colors dull with age if varnish is applied? I am looking for cheap alternatives to acrylic painting, mainly for large (4 foot by 6 foot) paintings.

I believe regular emulsion paint will flake off after some time, even if covered with varnish. Both coats could peel. Try low sheen emulsion, since this almost has an oil paint finish in a water base.

Buying White Colored Bedroom Furniture

White is being increasingly used nowadays for bedroom furniture and even in other rooms like living room. This is because people have realized how white bedroom furniture has an impact on the overall décor of the room. Although, you cannot achieve a look of grandeur with white furniture like the way you can have with dark wood bedroom furniture, but still the look and the atmosphere white décor gives, is worth considering the option.

You cannot ask if white furniture is suitable or not as suitability is not in question here as white is a color that you can put in every room and expect it to look good. You can question the looks of the overall décor with white bedroom furniture and other furniture pieces but actually, it depends how you adorn the white furniture and how well you decorate your home. It is your creativity that is required here, which you can use in countless ways if you have white furniture. Unlike the dark wood furniture, in which your creativity has to be limited as you cannot try different combinations of colors and you have to stick with the subtle colors to go with dark shades of the furniture, your creativity is not limited with white colored furniture.

For a master bedroom, white bedroom furniture is very rarely used but when it is, it simply inspires awe especially if the white bedroom furniture is adorned well. If I paint my kitchen cabinets white do I have to paint the rest of the dark wood in the house?

I want to update my kitchen, firstly by painting the dark wood cabinets. But I"m concerned that I will have to paint the rest of the dark wood in the house (doorways, ledges, etc). Will it look weird if I don't paint the rest of the houses wood?

Absolutely not. Look through decorating magazines, you will find many white kitchens with dark wood floors. It looks beautiful.
